Bio
Yvonne Lim had her interest in music sparked by being indulged in art music and
witnessing her mother’s piano performances.
Her mother is also a pianist and an experienced music teacher. Deeply inspired, Yvonne began her musical training at a very young age. Piano became her passion, and she was involved with music throughout her education path.
Her strong passion and motivation for music have led her all the way in achieving her
ABRSM Graded Examinations with Distinction on top of her Bachelor Degree in the UK.
Simultaneously with her studies, she has been teaching piano practical and music theory to individuals and groups in various music schools, covering a wide range of ages and abilities from young children to adults. Although Yvonne’s students achieve considerable examination success, her approach and philosophy are to engender an enthusiasm and interest in music for life, encouraging self-improvement at every ability level.
Teaching did not stop Yvonne from learning. She had undergone training and became a Music for Young Children (MYC) Certified teacher, conducting group music and keyboard programmes for children as young as 2 years old and above. She is also a current MOE-registered music instructor and piano accompanist for school CCA programmes.
With a forward-looking mindset, Yvonne remains motivated to source for different music-related courses so as to enrich and upgrade herself. In 2023, she achieved a Distinction (A) Grade for Piano Pedagogy Graduate Course, at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, NUS.
Embracing the joy of performing, Yvonne has been performing actively in the past few years at various concert venues such as Esplanade Recital Studio, The Republic Cultural centre, etc. In July 2022, she participated in the International Music Festival held in Spain, where she had the privilege to attend individual masterclasses with renowned musicians like Professor Leonel Morales and Leo de María. She then performed at their International Piano Competition and Concert, held at the Auditorio Medina Elvira in Atarfe. In October 2024, Yvonne competed in the 6th WPTA International Piano Competition and achieved Silver Award in Piano Solo Artist Category.
